For many years now, I've been teaching a basketry and/or weaving project to 1st graders at my son's old elementary school.  One mom who was helping out said that she still has the basket her oldest daughter made 11 years ago.  Here are some of the baskets they made.  We had a lot of fun!

You can enlarge to get a closer look.  I prepared the bases (52!).  It took me 4 hours.  The children did the weaving.  With a great deal of help, it took us about 2 hours.
